Rhythm Kids®
Ages 4 – Grade 2
Rhythm Kids® is an immersive, experiential music education program in which children ages 4–8 years complete primary music development (and attain Basic Music Competence) and enter what might be called “secondary music development.” In this stage, children develop Applied Music Competence— through drumming, movement, and singing—and begin their journey to basic/ functional music literacy.
Rhythm Kids® classes follow the best-practices, whole-child, educational approach recommended for children through age 8, where learning is scaffolded within a play-based, musical community. A drum is the ideal “first instrument”—its inherent accessibility offers deep layers of learning, and the “cool factor” gives children the desire to play, opening the door to experiencing a sense of accomplishment quickly. As children explore drumming patterns and songs from around the world, they learn about music, develop confidence as autonomous music makers, and discover how rhythm connects us all.
Classes Include:
Immersion in the musical language of many cultures, including West African Gahu, Japanese Taiko, Brazilian Samba (just to name a few!)
Playful music games with rules
Deep exposure to complex, fun, and rockin' music
Rich, creative experimentation and expression, improvisation, and innovation
One-45 minute class per week
Fun proprietary and interactive videos, which will help your child continue to learn from outside of class, in the safety and comfort of your own home.

Winter 2025 Rhythm Kids®
Tuition for each session includes all classes in the session, a beautifully designed songbook and CD of the music for that session to take home and play throughout the week; a personal code to download or stream the songs to your devices via the free Music Together app; and access to the online “Family Music Zone®”, where you can also download all the music digitally, explore fun games and videos, and discover musical activities to do with your child at home! You'll also receive additional materials during the session to support your knowledge of your growing child and their development.
Each Rhythm Kid® needs their own djembe drum. Rachel will give you more information on this.
